NO ENTRY FEE  The 91-Word Memoir Writing contest celebrates longtime Gotham student and friend Norma Crosier who died in July five days shy of her 91st birthday.

The Challenge: Tell a story of your life in 91 words or less.

The Goal: Norma wrote many sharp, funny essays about living in New York City through the decades: From sharing a tiny Bedford Street house with three roommates during World War II, to navigating corporate America in the 60s, to buying real estate in the West 50s during the city's Taxi Driver era of the 1970s. She embraced the principle of memoir - that it is not the story of the writer's entire life, but rather one story among many. The winner will receive a 10-week workshop, $91 cash, and bragging rights.
Deadline October 15, 2012.
