The reading periods for each issue are as follows.
 
Spring 2017: 1 to 31 January; Theme: Medicine
Summer 2017: 1 to 30 April; Theme: Animals
Autumn 2017: 1 to 31 July; Theme: Education
 
Work submitted at other times will not be considered.
 
Work must be previously unpublished and submitted in a recent Microsoft Word file format. Poems should be no longer than two A4 pages, short fiction and essays no more than 3,000 words. Submit no more than two pieces (for example, two poems or one poem and one short story) per person per reading period. Please indicate your last name and Amsterdam Quarterly submission in the subject line of your e-mail.
 
AQ retains first publication and serialization rights for its online magazine as well as for its print-on-demand yearbook. No simultaneous submissions. Contributors will be paid in two copies of the AQ yearbook.
