Nowhere Magazine Spring Travel Writing Prize

Nowhere Magazine Spring Travel Writing Prize

Award-winning literary travel magazine Nowhere is accepting submissions for our annual Fall Travel Writing Prize. We are looking for novice and veteran writers of any stripe to send us stories that possess a powerful sense of people, place and time.

One hundred percent of the content in Nowhere comes from submissions. Thirty percent of the stories we publish are by first-time writers. We don’t take just anything; submitting is competitive, and our staff focuses a keen eye on narrative, setting, character, story arc, detail, research, reporting and authenticity. With fifty years of editing experience in the travel world on our masthead, the editing process is comprehensive—making your work look its best before publishing. We also nominate our authors for prestigious literary prizes each year.

Entries may be fiction, nonfiction, poetry or essay, but please indicate which genre at the top of your manuscript. Stories should run between eight hundred and five thousand words. Poetry may be any length, and several poems, themed together, may be submitted as one entry.

The winner will receive US$1,000, with publication in Nowhere granted under First North American Serial Rights (FNASR). Up to ten finalists also will be published.
The contest deadline is 11:59 p.m. EST on June 30, 2021.
