Thriving Family: Devotions on the Go, Christ is Lord

http://www.thrivingfamily.com/extra/call-for-submissions

Theme: "Family Devotions on the Go: Christ is Lord"

Play: Activity that can be done with minimal or no preparation. Not just, "think about," "imagine," "ask," or "talk about"—something that requires movement or a mental challenge

Talk: Tie the activity from "Play" to the Scripture (please recommend a verse). Don't start with "discuss," "talk about," etc. Just jump into the explanation that moves from activity to Scripture reference and ties them together. End with only one question the family can discuss (related to the verse, using second person voice).

Pray: Not a script, but a suggestion of what to pray about: Thank God for …, Ask God to …, etc. Related to verse. The prayer is sort of a paraphrase of the Scripture.

Topics: Each of these topics should be discussed from the view of Christ's lordship, not our stewardship (how well we manage the resources entrusted to us).
-Christ is Lord (define lordship). Include the concept of free will and that Christ is not a dictator, but we must submit to His lordship. He's the "boss."
-Christ is Lord of my thoughts.
-Christ is Lord of my words.
-Christ is Lord of my actions.
-Christ is Lord of my relationships.
-Christ is Lord of my body (what I eat, whether I exercise, etc.).

Word Count: 150 words per devotion

Rights: All rights

Payment: $50 per devotion, on acceptance

Due date: September 24, 2012

Audience: Parents with young children. The concepts should be easy for 5- to 8-year-olds to understand.

Byline: Yes—in print and online.

Submission: If interested, please respond to Web.Features@fotf.org and put "Attn: Troy – March Devotions" in the subject line. Note: You must include the subject line as it appears here or the submission will not reach the appropriate editor for consideration.)
