Thriving Family: Thanksgiving Traditions

Writing Opportunity from Thriving Family:
Theme: Do you have a great Thanksgiving tradition or activity that has allowed you and your guests to show gratitude to each other or to God, or has helped your family adopt a spirit of gratefulness? I am not looking for the corn on the plate or going around the table and talking about one thing that you are grateful for, but something unique and easy (and preferably fun) for a family, extended family or spouses to do together or to do as a means for teaching kids more about God and His graciousness to us. This can be something that your family has done (if so write the article in first person). Or it can be something that another family you know has done (also written in first person with an “as told to” byline; if the article is about someone else, please keep in mind that you would need to get their e-mailed permission to write this article about them and they must be OK with your final manuscript before it’s sent to us and realize that if we take the article, it will be edited).
Word Count: 100 to 400 words
Article type: A true-life, parenting experience (first person, byline it “as told to” if it’s about someone else, such as “Mary Kore as told to Sheila Seifert”)
Rights: First nonexclusive rights
Payment: $50-$125 on acceptance, depending on edited length but more importantly the uniqueness (and how easy and fun it is for a family to do)
Date Due: Monday, March 21, 2011, although submissions will start being considered as soon as they are sent
Subject Line of Your E-mail Should Read:
Attn: Sheila Seifert (FNER–TF50-125–M21A15) if you are on my list. If you saw this notice online, please put “ATTN: Sheila Seifert, Thanksgiving Traditions and Activities” in the subject line
Directions: You may insert or attach your article.
Acceptance or Rejection: The Thriving Family editors appreciate your article. If your manuscript was not accepted by April 15, 2011, your article was not chosen for publication. We hope to work with you on a different article at a later time.
Submit it: If you received this e-mail from me, you may submit an article by replying to the e-mail. If you received this e-mail from a friend or saw it online, please send your article to thrivingfamilysubmissions@family.org and put “ATTN: Sheila Seifert, Thanksgiving Traditions and Activities.”
Thanks for considering this.
Sincerely,
Sheila Seifert
